As I waited at the St. George subway station this afternoon I could not help but notice the massive iPod redecorating job they have done. It was like advertising wallpaper. As I stood there listening to my iPod it felt somewhat strange. Even when I bought mine last summer iPods weren't at the same level of cultural penetration as they are now. Now I am dwarfed by giant silhouettes with white headphones.
I've read that theives are recognizing the white headphones as evidence of an iPod and people with them are being targeted and having their iPods robbed. I suspect many people will buy replacement headphones to avoid that.
I guess it's an easy thing to target. I already have different headphones because I broke my original iPod ones. These are small black Sony earbuds. They have rubber thigns that go into your ear to block out sound and are really good on the subway and the bus. I can actually hear my music. However, if any thief is approaching me, I may never hear them. :-P
