Hypothetically Speaking

| | Comments (2)

Dave Hyatt is feeling very hypothetical today. I wonder if Apple likes this weblog talking about Safari the way it is. It is also interesting that Apple hasn't taken any measures to contain the leaked safari build. From what I've seen they haven't sent any letters to people asking them to take their mirrors of the build down.

I guess they must not be too upset. It actually might be better press for them now. People have got interested in this because its 'leaked'. Its like little kids who are having fun since they know they have something they aren't suppose to have. In this case, of course, it really isn't doing any harm, if not good.

From what I've seen, that's not the case... I'm the adminstrator for FunMac.com Forums and received this email from Apple after a forum member posted a link to it on our forums. They also took down the link promptly too (it was on a .Mac account).

Attached is the email I received as well as the email that the member in question receieved.

Interesting. I guess Apple is trying to shut places down. It seems they aren't doing a very good job, however, since there are many places with links to the build still. Maybe they have realised now that they can't control it anymore. Maybe not.

It's kind of a silly idea to put a unreleased copy of Safari on your iDisk if you ask me. Just asking for Apple to get after you :).

Cool site by the way.
