Today, Apple announced a bunch of software upgrades and new software including Xsan.

I'm not really clear on what it does, but it has a cool box.

Boy, good thing I bookmarked your blog so I could read fascinating content like this.
You dick basket!
I hate you.
Hey Jeff. XSan is an example of what's called a "storage area network" - a way of letting multiple computers access files simultaneously on shared disks over Fibre Channel. You can have a whole whack of Mac OS X machines all connected via high-speed Fibre Channel links to a whole mess of disks. It's a way to give network managers great flexibility in how they connect a bunch of disks to a bunch of computers.
Not quite a consumer product, but a very affordable and easy-to-use enterprise-class SAN solution.
Thanks for the information, Steve. It sounds pretty interesting. It's nice to see that Apple is getting serious about the enterprise market.
I agree, it DOES have a nice box :D
