We've been experiencing blackouts up at the cottage here, just like the majority of Ontario and the North-East United States. The power is back on for now, but they warn it could go off again so they can send it somewhere else.
I can imagine it would be quite strange in Toronto or other big cities to be driving down the streets and having no lights around.
Blackouts at the cottage? Good! That's what camping should be like! With only candles and flashlights and a campfire to see by at night.
i was at the cottage when the blackout hit. it was awesome to be up there for it!! lots o'lake water and a bbq. what more can a person need to get by?
Guin, yeah it was fun. It was totally dark all around the lake. It was kind of hard for my grandparents though.
We haven't had any further blackouts since.
Birgit, yeah it's a perfect place to be while there is a blackout. Cook on the bbq and you have endless water if you need it (although not good for drinking).
